1 - Trump commerce secretary takes ‘aggressive’ stance against Ontario auto industry, sources say: Carney and Trump seemed to get along well on Tuesday, even Minister Leblanc sounded optimistic, but with Secretary Lutnick’s more aggressive, America first Canada second approach and dismissal of an auto deal between the two countries, where do we go from here? I’m genuinely worried we’ll have a shell of an auto industry here - at least from the American car companies - it’s a huge worry.
2 - Easy to be pessimistic about the Trump peace deal - but also KWT seeing people that logically should want peace to end - the Gazans sure appear to be celebrating it, in certain pockets. Have that optimism?
3 - Conservatives want to end birthright citizenship for children of temporary residents: Almost no European country grants unconditional birthright citizenship anymore. Many European countries tightened citizenship laws in the late 20th century to manage post-colonial and post-EU migration, is this something Canada needs to do as well? Or would doing so hinder population growth and lead to stateless people?
