In this week’s episode, we have a very special guest. She and her husband are very well known in the dyslexia community. Their works have inspired thousands of dyslexics around the world to accept their dyslexia, own it, and be proud of it. We are very fortunate to have Dr. Fernette Eide, the co-author of “The Dyslexia Advantage”, with us on our 90th episode of the podcast. The Dyslexia Explored podcast and the BulletMap Academy have been heavily influenced by the book. We even covered the chapters of the book here in the podcast. If you haven’t read the book yet, we highly recommend you should.
As with a lot of people, Dr. Fernette and Dr. Brock were first exposed to dyslexia when their first child showed signs of trouble at preschool. They’ve observed a huge disconnect between what they see with their kid at home as opposed to what they see at school. They observed that the support available for kids is poor but it took them a little while to realize what was really happening and that led them to write a book called “The Mislabelled Child”. Listen to the podcast and find out what led them to the dyslexic advantage book.
