Police on Long Island, New York, have taken a person into custody in connection with the murders of at least 10 women whose bodies were found on Gilgo Beach over 10 years ago. The body of Shannan Gilbert was first discovered on the beach. Police later ruled her death was not the result of a crime, but while investigators were searching for Gilbert, they found other remains. Erin Moriarty has been covering this story since 2011. This “48 Hours” episode aired on Dec. 12, 2020.
