With these Race Spotlight episodes, our goal is to introduce a race to the Ultra Running Guys family, but, it is also not every day that you get to have as a guest, one of the legends of the sport. There is nothing cooler than to be able to learn about a race that is also hosted by a legend. Let us tell you about the race first. Today we are talking about the Route 66 UltraRun. The race is liking taking a journey through classic Americana. Covering 140 miles the race, the race follows the longest remaining unbroken stretched of Route 66, from Seligman to Topock66, AZ. The Route 66 UltraRun is held on the 2nd weekend of November and takes place from Saturday to Monday and has a 60 hour cutoff. The race director is Marshall Ulrich. Marshall Ulrich, or Marsh, is one of the toughest endurance runners of all time. He is a legend in our sport and this is just an honor. The ultimate endurance athlete, Marshall Ulrich has run more than 130 ultramarathons averaging over 125 miles each, competed in 17 expedition-length adventure races, and climbed the Seven Summits all on his first attempts. He is also an accomplished author of a couple of books you may already be familiar with. "Both Feet on the Ground: Reflections from the Outside" "Running on Empty: An Ultramarathoner's Story of Love, Loss and a Record-Setting Run Across America"
