The government of Cuba continues to repress and punish virtually all forms of dissent and public criticism, as Cubans endure a dire economic crisis affecting their rights. Demonstrations continued in 2023, triggered by blackouts, shortages, and the deterioration of living conditions. Cubans continue to leave the country in unprecedented numbers.
