Overview: Today’s podcast is a tribute to the Golden Horseshoe which begat the Diamond Horseshoe at WDW which begat the Tokyo Disneyland version of the Golden Horseshoe. I talk about it’s history, what Walt created, and Disney Legends Betty Taylor (aka Slu Foot Sue) and Wally Boag (aka Pecos Bill).
Notes: I find it intriguing how much Walt loved the old west and included many elements at DisneyLand.
I wanted to point out that while it’s clearly a “saloon” and modeled as such, Walt was careful to have Slu Foot Sue refer to it as a “cafe”
The audio of Wally Boag as Jose is pulled from the “barker bird” who sat outside the Tiki Room for many years.
Here’s Walt and Lillian’s anniversary party.
