Ginger is a root that was originally found in China. You may have already noticed that ginger is a staple ingredient in most immune-boosting supplements and teas and there’s a good reason for that! Ginger influences the immune system response and activation of T-cells, which play a central role in our ability to respond to illness and infection.
Recipe for Ginger Tea
Simply mix fresh ginger and local honey into hot water to get the most out of the anti-aging benefits. Honey has natural anti-bacterial properties to help reduce inflammation, while ginger is rich in gingerol, the antioxidant that helps protect against collagen breakdown.
What you’ll need:
• About 2 inches of fresh raw ginger, to taste
• 1 1/2 to 2 cups water
• 1 to 2 tablespoons honey, to taste
• Optional: 1/2 fresh lemon or lime, juiced, to taste
To make the tea:
1. Peel fresh ginger, either slice thin or shred to maximize the surface area
2. Boil the ginger in water for 10-20 minutes depending on the strength you want
3. Remove from heat, add honey and optional lemon or lime juice to taste
