For Advent in 2019 we walked through the metanarrative of scripture; creation, fall, redemption, and restoration. We decided to re-air this series this year to go long with our new Biblical Theology Advent Cards! These cards were created to guide families through the story of scripture focusing on God the Son and His role from creation all the way to restoration.
There are three cards for each week of advent. Each card will prompt you to read a main truth, open your Bible to read that day's passage(s), pray, and discuss or complete an activity. On the back of each card is part of a puzzle which, by Christmas, will create a beautiful reminder of the reason for the season. You can download them for free at the link below.
Sin might be the last thing we want to think about at Christmastime, but the fall of man is the whole reason Jesus had to come to earth and be born as a human. On episode 82 of the Adorned Podcast we discuss how understanding our depravity and our need for a savior makes the gift of Christmas that much sweeter!
Quotes:
“If I chose to live in the truth that God really is sovereign and really is in control, how much stress would that take away?”
“Immediately after the fall happens, God is there giving hope and truth and pointing them to Jesus.”
“Original sin refers to the result of the first sin, the corruption of the human race. Original sin refers to the fallen condition in which we are born” - R.C. Sproul
“We have to first accept the fact that the fall happened so we can see the beauty of redemption.”
“If we don’t understand the fall we won’t understand the Bible or the gospel. Because if we don’t understand the problem we can’t understand the solution.” Don Carson
