This week, the city and the New York City Football Club reached an agreement to build the city’s first ever soccer stadium in Willet Points, Queens. The massive plan will also include 2,500 units of affordable housing, a hotel and retail space. The $780 million stadium is being paid for entirely by the soccer team, but will need to go through the land-use approval. NY1’s Zack Fink, Courtney Gross and Juan Manuel Benítez break down the surprisingly controversy-free situation, and look at how it could affect the city in the years to come.
Additionally, after Democrats in New York lose four congressional seats, which helped give Republicans control of the House of Representatives, a blame game has been underway. State Party Chairman Jay Jacobs has been taking a significant amount of heat for not doing enough to get out the vote. The team takes a look at what is really happening within the party, and if Jacobs is truly to blame.
