Season 1 Episode 10 - I Pray, But I Really Don't Like to Pray
Introduction to Episode: During this episode, we look at how Christians pray but don't like to pray. We as Christians let our feelings get int the way and we become lazy and complacent in our prayer life with the Father. Throughout the episode, we talk about personal moments when the flesh got in the way of spending time with the father. We are reminded that we can tell the Father how we feel even to the point of not wanting to pray.
Co-Host: Originally from Welsh, LA, Rev. Bo Kyle is an Assistant Pastor at First Presbyterian Church in Meridian Mississippi. Before Bo’s arrival at FPC in August 2015 he served for seven years as the Director of Middle School Ministries at the Chesterfield Presbyterian Church in St. Louis, MO. Initially, Bo came to St. Louis to attend Covenant Theological Seminary, where he studied from 2007-2010, completing his Master of Divinity Degree. Bo is married to Lindsay with two beautiful daughters, Cora and Carolyn. Bo loves sports and fishing. Bo Kyle is an ordained minster in the EPC.
Episode Summary: As we read scripture, we see Jesus on His knees before the Father in the garden of Gethsemane begging Him to take the cup from Him. Jesus knew that He had to be that sacrificial lamb but He prayed anyway as He was one with the Father. Jesus teaches us that no matter how we feel, we should still pray and talk to the Father. Bo shares is personal testimony of how he prays but has fallen away at times from prayer. Hint the title of the episode. Bo reminds us that when we go to the Father in prayer, we are not our adolescent selves stumbling upon words to say to our crush. We can boldly go to the Father through the Son with the Holy Spirit interceding for us. Yes, we can get weak, but the Holy Spirit is our comforter.
Notable Quotes: "But there is one simple thing that we forget, all of God's wrath was poured out on that one single man, the Son of God, He bared all the sins of the world on His shoulders. He bare all the sins of the world in His beating, in his mocking, in being spit on, kicked, drugged and nailed to the cross. My sin, your sin, our sin him there." - Brandon Queen | "If we confess, that's a moment of prayer. And I think one of the most important parts of prayer is confession." - Rev. Bo Kyle
