74: Classic Records Van Halen

This week, rock journalist and musician, J Bennet join us for part 1 of our Van Halen Classic Record Series. Edward Van Halen, along with Jimi Hendrix and Tony Iommi, is one of the true innovators of hard rock, heavy metal guitarists and has influenced a legion of players across all genres of extreme music.

Van Halen’s debut was like a shot heard around the world, making a statement that the bar had been raised. The band was an unstoppable live juggernaut, blowing away some of the most respected bands of the era and rose to mega-stardom with one of the most successful debut albums in rock history.
