Joe Viera war eine umtriebige Figur der Bayerischen und Deutschen Jazzszene. Als Musiker und als Jazzpädagoge hat er darüber hinaus viel für die Verbreitung des Jazz getan. Besonders bekannt ist als Mitbegründer der Jazzwoche Burghausen im Jahr 1970. Am gestrigen Sonntag ist er im Alter von 91 Jahren gestorben. Ulrich Habersetzer erinnert an Joe Viera.
