46: The Worth of a Cup of Coffee- Interview with Andreas Galuera Lopez

While on my retreat to Haultulco Mexico I visited a local Coffee Plantation "Yuviaga" and meet the kind young man Andreas Galuera Lopez who was our tour guide. He showed us his family owned farmed that he has personally been working on for the past 4 years and with great success. His passion for his family business outweighed the desire to live a lush lifestyle. What mattered to him the most was living off the land, sustainability, and as he said in the podcast, FREEDOM. I have not come across a young man of his age who has been so wise to realize what matters the most in life. It was a pleasure spending half a day with him and our retreat guest on his family's farm, learning about the coffee beans, the two varieties, how they harvest them, roast them and sell them. I must say, everyone on the tour was quite surprised on the amount of work it takes to actually harvest the coffee beans and when there is a shortage of supplies it is even more work. So the next time you take a sip of your cup of coffee, remember those who worked hard for them, the "pickers" as they used to call them. They spend countless hours ensuring that your coffee is the best so treat them with respect. 

 I wish Adreas tons of success in his endeavor and to never give up on his dream to live off the land and teach others to do the same.
