Julia has been making things for longer than she can remember, and her parents have the archival evidence to prove it. Announcing that she needed some privacy, she would shut the door to her room and spend silent hours hunched over whatever tools and materials she could get her hands on, trying to figure everything out.
Even after decades of doing it, transforming an idea into reality is still a powerful experience for Julia, a kind of alchemy. And though she still spends a lot of time alone in a silent room, figuring things out with metal and wood, she also gets the satisfaction of sharing her solutions with clients, viewers and students.
