ln this week's episode of The White Tiger Podcast, we sit down with Jonathan Stahler, Founder and President of Stahler Sports and Entertainment Law based out of Miami, Florida.
Jonathan is not just a Sports and Entertainment Attorney, but he also has experience as a sports agent, representing clients from the National Football League, National Basketball Association and Major League Baseball. He also utilizes his extensive law background and his experience as a sports agent to help professional athletes and high profile entertainment clients, protect themselves and their families, both now and in the future.
During our conversation with Jonathan, he talks about what it’s like to be a professional sports agent and why it can be very challenging and not as glamorous as most people think. He also talks about why college athletes should be getting paid and how new legislation passed in California, Colorado and Florida is setting the stage for college athletes to finally be compensated while in school.
Jonathan also talks about an article he wrote in 2014, in regards to the NCAA exploiting college athletes, by benefiting from their name, image and likeness, while refusing to compensate these same athletes and restricting them from making money while in school.
We also talk about the power of practical experience and why getting an eduction is only one part of a larger puzzle and why college athletes need to be given the opportunity to learn practical skills that would greatly benefit them while in college and in life.
If you’re a sports fan, want to know what it is like to be a sports agent and are curious to know what the future of college athletics may look like, this is the episode for you!
