Road haulage operators in the North West are said to be struggling over high fuel costs.
Other issues impacting the sector include a severe shortage of qualified drivers.
The Irish Road Haulage Association has previously warned of the severe driver shortage, which it says could impact on the supply of goods across the country in the weeks leading to Christmas.
It has led to further calls on the Government to support the industry going forward with a Dail debate on the issue taking place last night.
Fianna Fail Sligo Leitrim TD Eamon Scanlon says more needs to be done to ensure the sectors resilience going forward.
