The Minister for Health Jennifer Carroll MacNeill will today officially launch construction on the Sunflower Children's Hospice in Mayo, marking the first children's hospice outside of Dublin.
The eight-bed in-patient hospice, funded by the Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation, will provide vital care for children with life-limiting illnesses across the Western Seaboard.
Construction in Castlebar is set to begin in 2026, with a two-year build and a €14 million cost, half of which is still to be raised.
Deputy Feighan told Ocean FM News the project will bring care, comfort and compassion much closer to home for families in Sligo and Leitrim.
