I’m not going to lie, this was a really tough conversation, and the courage Mary Leigh showed chatting with me about the death of her son, blew me away.

Mary Leigh’s son, Cole Miller was killed by a Cowards Punch in January 2016 on a night out in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane.

We talk about the impact this horrendous act has had on her, her family, and the community they are part of.

Mary Leigh and her family felt strongly about organ donation and made the decision to donate Cole’s organs. We chat about the process of organ donation and the lives Coles organ donation saved.

This is a confronting conversation, but Mary Leigh’s take away message was to have conversations with your kids and loved ones around organ donation and what a gift it can be to save another’s life through organ donation.

I was so humbled by this strong and courageous woman. A mother’s love is so beautiful.
