Episode 59 Lisa Jasunas - an incredible 60kg (132 pounds) weight loss journey whilst living with PCOS.

I am a 34 year old, working mother of two from Buford Georgia USA, living with PCOS; a hormone disorder that is a leading cause to insulin resistance, infertility & weight gain. Struggling with self-esteem, anxiety and depression growing up, food was always a constant. After my first born son unexpectedly passed away in 2010, I continued to fill the void with food. I have always been career driven which led to a fast paced lifestyle, often traveling and for four years I was a single mother to my second born son. Needing convenience, my eating choices did not make weight loss any easier. For the 10 year death anniversary of my son, I devoted the special year to getting my life back & being the best version of myself for my husband and two children. I not only had tanked my metabolism and confused my appetite from years of diet fads, overeating, and a yo-yo life of the gain/loss of the same weight, I had been living in sadness and there was no better time to address it. Little did I know I was going to have to face one of the biggest feats of my life during a pandemic. I was introduced to Intermittent Fasting by Gin Stephens’ Delay, Don’t Deny book in October 2019 by my mom, who had seen me through my unhealthiest years. After hearing that by timing your eating windows you could help correct metabolic issues, I couldn’t wait another day and started my new journey to health on October 13th, 2019. I have spent the past 17 months learning about this way of life and gaining my life back one clean fast at a time. I’m down 132 lbs, 95 lbs since starting IF. Every pound lost has been a pound of weight off my shoulders after eating my way through many emotions that I couldn’t force myself to deal with. Intermittent fasting has been my anchor. My goal is that by sharing my story I can influence just one life; because my life has been saved.
