The last century saw a revolution in life expectancy. And this revolution will require us to shift what we do at every age and will demand a transformation of every aspect of our society.
Most of us are now expected to live much longer than previous generations. But instead of seeing this as a precious gift of extra life, we see it as a burden, with ageing populations dogged by infirmity, dependent on an ever-decreasing number of young people to support them.
Andrew J. Scott – the world’s leading expert on the economics of longevity - argues it doesn't have to be like that. Our longer lives can be a source of hope and fulfilment if we seize the opportunity to invest in our health, skills, finances and relationships to support a flourishing longer life – for ourselves, and for the planet. In conversation with Noreena Hertz, economist, broadcaster and bestselling author of The Lonely Century: A Call to Reconnect.
