The Donnelly family of Lucan were blamed for everything bad that happened in the area. Whether they were actually the cause of all the crime in the area is up for debate.
Regardless, in 1880, the family was massacred by a vigilante mob in the night, giving rise to the famous story of The Black Donnellys.
