Social media is a double-edged sword. It connects us to people we likely would have never encountered and allows us to stay in touch with family and friends no matter where they live. As much as social media can be a tool to stay connected in a positive way, the barrier between people on social media can also be used as a way to cloak someone’s true nature. In the case, we’re examining in this episode, both positive and negative aspects of social media were applied. The victim found refuge online and used social media as an outlet where she could explore her identity as she journeyed into adulthood. But the sanctuary she found in online communities would shift in July of 2019, with social media serving as a catalyst for unspeakable peril. Join me as I walk you through the case involving Bianca Devins.
