Heidegger’s “Being and Time” with Jason Reza Jorjani

Jason Reza Jorjani is a philosopher and faculty member at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. He is author of Prometheus and Atlas, World State of Emergency, and Lovers of Sophia.

Here he describes Martin Heidegger’s 1927 classic book that served as a forerunner for both existentialism and post-modernism in philosophy. He notes that human existence is radically historical. He also describes three unique approach to human history: antiquarian, critical, and monumental. Heidegger felt that the monumental approach, which looked toward the future while appreciating the contributions of the past, was the most authentic. Jorjani suggests that Zionism is an example of this approach.

He is a past vice-president of the Association for Humanistic Psychology; and is the recipient of the Pathfinder Award from that Association for his contributions to the field of human consciousness exploration.
