Title: What the HETE?! Exploring Critical Issues, Potential Solutions & Collaboration Opportunities for PETE & HETE
Description: This PETE Collaborative session will include a panel of health educators and health education teacher education (HETE) professionals who will share their perspectives on the critical issues facing HETE and explore potential solutions. The discussion will aim to foster a greater understanding of essential knowledge and skills for beginning health educators and examine possibilities for stronger alignment/collaboration between HETE and physical education teacher education (PETE) programs. The panelists will explore options for effective redesign or program structures in teacher education and teacher training (e.g., dual-licensure, co-designed courses, joint faculty appointments, dual-listed courses, once-off course offerings, etc.) to prepare health and physical educators for today and tomorrow’s schools and students.
