Julianne reflects upon previous episodes, and brings us new takeaways on the importance of rest and moving slowly.
As our journey changes, our relationship with our body often follows. For Julianne, fitness and movement are directly related to processing and authenticity. She reflects more specifically on the pattern of pushing herself too hard with movement when she’s avoiding doing the work, and sees her surgery as a true opportunity to reshape this cycle. We often feel the need to rush, when we actually need to be still. While events like surgeries can trigger traumatic memories, being forced to take out time is a gift. When our bodies want time, we must give it to them.
Julianne gives us permission to take out time and change whatever we need about our lives and our decisions to do what truly serves us. She reminds us to ask our body what it needs–and listen. Plus, the big takeaway, it really okay is to take your time.
Quotes:
“There’s this pressure that starts within me and has me and has me feeling like I have to be moving fast all of the time. However, when I’m in those practices and I’m doing the work and I’m moving these things the relationship with my movement and my body is much softer.”
“The truth lives in the body, not in the head.”
