Transition Wild - Sportsmen’s Empire
Sports:Wilderness
On today’s episode, I recap my whitetail deer hunt to Oklahoma and to go along with the DIY theme, I thought it would be fitting to record this podcast by myself since the trip was done completely solo. Although the majority of my hunting now takes place in Colorado chasing mule deer and elk, it’s in my blood to go on at least one whitetail hunt each year to stay true to my Michigan roots.
During this podcast, I cover why and how I ultimately ended up choosing Oklahoma to hunt in 2018 after plans fell through with Nebraska at the last minute. I also talk a lot about my gear, specifically my pack and tree stand combo that allowed me to bounce around and be mobile. Since this was a solo trip, I also cover my camping gear and why I decided to sleep in the back of my truck for the entire week.
To end the episode, I cover my entire week of hunting and what I doing each day for scouting and hunting setups. I also reveal why I believe I was successful and how I used other hunters to help locate deer on vast areas of public land. This hunting trip will go down as one of my most memorable yet and if you have the opportunity to do the same solo excursion, I highly recommend you go for it because life is short.
