Copper-associated hepatopathy, or CAH, isn’t just a Bedlington Terrier disease - although we classically think of them when it comes to copper storage disease.
Actually, many different breeds get CAH, and these patients often present severely unwell - with marked hepatic dysfunction, requiring a LOT from us as nurses.
If you want to know more about copper-associated hepatopathies: how they occur, the signs we see, the consequences for our patients, how to treat them - and, most importantly, the nursing skills we can use with these patients, then this episode is for you.
