Every circumstance a Christian faces in life, good or bad, has been designed by God for his benefit, so he should face them “in Christ” and rejoice in and thank God for them. Facing problems or dealing with certain people causes you pain from the world's perspective, but they conform you to the image of Christ, then you will not pray "comfort me Lord", instead you will pray "conform me Lord".
John C. Maxwell when he talks about building character, He says,
Some people are born mud and remain mud.... Sadly, some are born marble and die mud; some are born mud, dream of marble, but remain mud. But many persons of high character have been born mud and died marble.”
