Susan Haynes | Ephesians 5:21-6:4
Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.
Starting from that basic principle, the apostle Paul goes on to explain how this should work out in family relationships. Taken at face value his words seem jarring to modern ears, but as Susan explains, the relationship between husband and wife and between parent and child arises out of self-sacrifice and a desire to put the other first. The service is introduced by Rachel Fasham and also includes a reading from Chris Powell and prayers from Christ Church members of all ages.
