Jerry Halpern practiced at the Los Altos Zendo and began studying with Shunryu Suzuki in 1967. This piece was inspired by his listening to the audio and reading the transcript of the very last part of Suzuki's lecture on Beginner's Mind. a part about "Thank You" that was not used in the book.
