Sean Canney urges Government to accept amendments to counter-motion to proposed eviction ban extension

Galway East TD Sean Canney is urging the Government to accept amendments to their counter motion to a proposed extension of the eviction ban.

Cabinet will sign-off this morning on its reponse to a Sinn Féin motion for the extension of the evictions ban until January 2024.

Local TD Sean Canney has published eight key demands, including a tax relief scheme for small landlords, and the extension of the rent-a-room scheme to those receiving social welfare payments.

He says support from the Regional Independent Group is dependent on the Government accepting those amendments:
