Mentally healthy children have a positive quality of life and can function well at home, in school, and in their communities. Factoring in risk for parental detainment or deportation, children are more likely to report depressive symptoms, negative mood, physical symptoms and negative self-esteem. Today we join Basiliso Moreno, former school social worker, to discuss some of the challenges children experience when family members are deported, effects on their health and wellbeing, and managing extreme stress and anxiety.
