To be concerned means to show an interest or hold something as valuable or important.

When you show concern, You fundamentally show interest in what the other person has to say, consider how they feel about the subject, and value their opinion about whatever it may be. All this just because they are important to you.

Concern = Value

On the flip-side, one quick way to destroy communication is to show no concern for the other person nor any interest in what they have to say.

Another easy way is to think that you’re always right you just want to express your righteousness to the other person, no matter their opinion.
