Don’t Patronize - or Abuse - Us, Mr. President

The patronizing attitude of the Biden administration and its allies on Capitol Hill was on display in the President’s first address to the nation last night. It focused on the Covid-19 pandemic and the main theme was what the good boys and girls in America need to do to live something approximating normal lives, including, for example, enjoying a Fourth of July celebration.

Mr. Biden’s answer, children, is to obey the good Dr. Fauci’s orders. And, right now, that means taking your medicine – specifically, your vaccine. As soon as possible and no questions asked. Unsaid, but certainly implied, is the prospect that the purported grown-ups in Washington will soon start compelling us to take the vaccine by imposing penalties for not doing so.

If we don’t want to be treated – and possibly abused – like submissive children, we better reject such ominous condescension.
