The European Commission is to propose a range of measures next week to tackle rising energy costs across Europe.
This morning the European Commissioner for Energy said swift co-ordinated action at member state level was needed to deal with the impact of surging gas prices.
Kadri Simson was addressing the European Parliament in Strasbourg where MEPs have been debating the energy crisis.
Commissioner Simson said the immediate priority should be to protect vulnerable households and to ensure that energy poverty isn’t aggravated.
