On this week's bonus, Hussein talks to Matt Dagher-Margosian, founder of Asia Arts Tours and the host of Arts of Travel Podcast, to talk about how activist groups and workers have used digital tools to advance material causes in Thailand, China, and India. Matt talks about how these movements - many of which were relatively unheard of in Western media - used digital tools not as a centre of their activism, but to enhance and complement their material demands, all while retaining physical territory and displaying their physical presence in public space. We talk about what activists, scholars and civil action groups could learn from these movements, and why it's essential to understand the internet through materialist lenses to challenge its neoliberal entrenchments.
