It’s Time for Secretary of State Mike Pompeo

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.

The United States is poised to have a new Secretary of State with the ability to be among our best.  President Trump deserves great credit for nominating CIA Director Mike Pompeo to the job and for helping persuade the Senate Foreign Relations Committee’s deciding vote, Republican Senator Rand Paul, to support him yesterday.

Of course, the full Senate has to go along, too.  But with Democratic Senators Heidi Heitkamp, Joe Manchin and Joe Donnelly announcing their support for Director Pompeo, it’s all over but the shouting. 

And shouting there may be since some Democrats have chosen to cloak their naked partisanship with loud condemnations of Mr. Pompeo’s informed and legitimate concerns about Sharia-supremacism – which he shares with President Trump. Ditto his robust national security-mindedness.  It’s a very good thing such critics are in the minority in the Senate, and the country.
