Obama Invites Another Crisis

Russia’s threat to a pro-Western Ukraine is causing the greatest geostrategic crisis in Europe in a generation. It’s a bad time for President Obama to be fomenting another one in the Mideast.

Mr. Obama used a recent interview to assert that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu must allow the creation of a Palestinian state or invite a demographic crisis that will imperil the Jewish State.

We can only hope that Bibi Netanyahu will reject such demeaning and coercive pressure. It can only encourage further intransigence on the part of Palestinians, whose virulent hostility towards Israel would make any new state they run a mortal threat to the Jewish State – and to U.S. interests in the region.

Treating friends worse than enemies is a formula for having fewer friends and more enemies.
