Rev. Matt Miller (Matthew 1) We know the holidays often present us with opportunities to be with family. For some, that is a time of rejoicing and celebration. For others, having a good relationship with family members can be difficult. For still others, the sadness of not having family is depressing. In the Gospel of Matthew which begins with a long genealogy, we read about Jesus’ family. While there are kings and those near to God’s heart, we also see a lot of brokenness. This reveals to us that even Jesus’ family was a mess. With this in mind, we can see this advent season as a reminder that God can work through any family, even ours!
