Eh, just some new shit I found last night. There’s actually a little over four fuckin’ hours here for us. I usually stop at 3 for these editions, and that’s me reining myself in. Either that, or I’m just having an off week and can’t find a whole lot of share-worthy new shit. Y’all would be pleasantly surprised just how much awesome new shit is being released by artists far and wide every week. At least, y’all would be surprised if y’all were curious enough to look for it. Helps even more the more diverse your tastes are, so you muthafuckas know I’m on top of all sortsa new shit. Plenty of shit flies under my Release Radar though, no doubt.
Any-fuckin’-way, a number of notable mentions this week go to muthafuckin’ defrag first for releasing his first album in fuckin’ years! I’ve talked about defrag before. He’s one of my all-time favorite electronic music artists, and his styles are ever-changing and always fascinating to me. That’s pretty fuckin’ rare in 20+ years of fandom, however not too fuckin’ rare as Dog Fashion Disco retains that honor for me as well! They just put out a new track, and if I’m not mistaken, they’ve either just put out a new album or are just about to. Always fantastic fuckin’ circus metal from those guys. It’s not even entirely accurate to call them that. They’re better described as eclectic metal in my opinion.
I’m about to butcher the fuck out of this dude’s name, but polish guitar virtuoso Marcin Patrzałek put out a guitar version of Bach’s Toccata and Fugue, and it’s his usual slice of awesome pie. My boy Al introduced me to his stuff years ago, and I’ve played him a number of times on this podcast. Anyway, haven’t seen Death Tour around these parts for a while! Very nice to see/hear them on a new jam with another group called LUzA CULT. Zardonic with another brutal fuckin’ remix in this bitch. This one’s a foray into dubstep, whereas their usual fare is more hardcore and drumstep. I haven’t disliked a Zardonic track yet.
Fuckin’ Krewella makin’ a valiant return to the podcast with Drive Away! I was sorta lukewarm on them for a while. Their more recent stuff didn’t hit as hard as their earlier shit, which is fine of course. Artists are certainly allowed to evolve and try new things w/o any consideration for anyone’s tastes. Anyway, glad to catch another great jam from them. Anyone recall on one of the Pride Editions last year, I played a song called Wanda’s Cunty Vision? Well, that artist was Ocean Kelly, and I found two new fantastic tracks by them: Millennium Freestyle and Vegan Pussy. How am I not gonna at least listen to a track called Vegan Pussy, hmm? Pleased to report that it pleasantly tickled my ear cavities, so I have shared it with y’all.
I also managed to pick up a jam by a Turkish hip-hop artist named Önder Şahin. Apparently it’s one on which two members of Onyx were featured, and it’s actually a remix of the original which came out in 2013. Isn’t the internet wonderful? We could’ve gone our whole lives without knowing that, but now we do. Anyway, the remix was/is fuckin’ fire, so it’s right here with all the rest. Speaking of features (even though I’m pretty sure this is an entirely different artist using the same name), I caught a track with FERR, and it was very different indeed from the dreamy, ambient stuff that Ferry Corsten typically releases under the moniker FERR. Certainly wasn’t expecting fuckin’ Tunisian hip-hop, but that’s what I got! Anyway, that’s Daber Rassek (no fuckin’ idea how to pronounce that properly) by NVST & FERR, and I thought it was pretty fuckin’ cool; especially ‘cause I had no fuckin’ idea what language they were speaking until I started typing about it in this intro.
Definitely wasn’t expecting the sort of track I got out of the Steve Aoki & grandson collabo. It’s got some Pendulum vibes in that it’s rock mixed with drum’n’bass. Pretty fuckin’ nice, in my humble-ass fuckin’ opinion. Y’all… I’ve played Purrple Cat a number of times now. How fuckin’ dreamy are those jams? Well, this new one called Light Years Apart certainly doesn’t disappoint. I love tracks that inspire me to make music of my own. Whether or not I have time to act on that inspiration is an entirely different matter, but nonetheless. Absolutely gorgeous shit right there. Oh, I’ve got another Lo-Fi version of an Amity Affliction song, too! I’m unfamiliar with the original, but this Lo-Fi version is dreamy as fuck as well. I’ve definitely enjoyed just about every Amity Affliction original I’ve heard, too.
Ooooo, a new Once Human jam? Well, rootily-toot-tootily-indeedily-fuckin’-do! When it started in my car, I literally said, “Oooooo…” Literally, literally, literally. Anyway, phenomenal fuckin’ metal right there. The vocalist is insanely talented and hot as all fuck to bootily-boot. Has anyone noticed the Kayou. tracks I’ve been playing? Well shit, they’re all fuckin’ sweet, and this one is yet another. It’s a little difficult to describe. It’s like chillwave hip-hop, which is actually a departure from the other stuff I’ve played. Still fuckin’ sweet, though. Oh, then we have a dude named LLLLNNNN… I have no idea if there’s some special way to pronounce that. I only just discovered him a week or two ago through an Instagram ad he posted. He’s classified himself as hard dance, and despite only having 3 songs posted on Spotify, he has over 50K monthly listeners. Dude definitely knows how to promote his shit.
New Meshuggah track? Well fuck yes indeed! If you can’t hang with Meshuggah, I wouldn’t blame you. Kind of an acquired taste. Gotta be a weirdo freakazoid like me. I’ve seen them live twice, and both times were just… *wistful sigh*. I miss mosh pits so much. Anyway, almost done here. More jams from Extra Terra, Ekoh & Crossfaith in this bitch, and they’re all vastly different from each other, but similarly as fucktacular. They’re like darkwave, indie hip-hop & Japanese deathcore respectively. Pretty fuckin’ sweet.
