"In sum, no matter the domain, the highly successful had a kind of ferocious determination that played our in two ways. First, these exemplars were unusually resilient and hardworking. Second, they knew in a very, very deep way what it was that they wanted. They not only had determination, they had direction."
That is an excerpt from the book Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance by Angela Duckworth. In her research, Angela takes a deep look into how people survive the struggle of gaining success and what it means to have Grit. In the book, she shares her research tool she coined as the 'Grit Scale' and on this week's PAWCast, Ben and Caroline review the 8 questions and provide the context to their answers.
This is the first part of a two part series on this topic, so be sure to tune into the next Tuesdays with Caroline when we review the results! Links to the book and the grit scale questionnaire are included below! What did you get for a score on the grit scale? Do you think it takes grit to find success in veterinary medicine?
