Mark Shore grew up Presbyterian. He attended an 'evangelical' church in college where he first learned about the ex gay ministries and was told that "if you haven't acted on your 'same sex attraction' then it isn't an issue and you just need to find one woman you love." Mark did find someone to love and was married for 17 years and had 4 kids. During the 17 years of marriage, Mark was secretly reading and attending talks on dealing with my 'same sex attraction'. When his wife found out, the divorce happened quickly and Mark chose to be celibate and participated in 5 years of ex gay ministries, therapy sessions and experiential conversion therapy weekends trying to appease God, his ex wife and kids. His depression and suicidal thinking grew stronger. Finally, Mark realized that all that teaching was all false and believed that, "I've done everything possible to be straight, and it didn't work." He is now happily married to his husband, who works as a nurse practitioner at the local hospital. They live on a beautiful farm that his husband grew up on in Virginia with goats, a beautiful river, and an amazing 35' Labyrinth that Mark built himself.
