#CancerSucks, Part 2 - Ovarian Cancer

Ovarian Cancer is the leading cause of gynecologic cancer-related deaths. Patients are often asymptomatic in the disease's early stages. The cancer is often detected in its later stages, once it has spread within the  abdomen and pelvis, and is more difficult to treat.

 

The most important risk factor for the development of Ovarian Cancer is family history. 10-15% of cases are hereditary, mostly due to BRCA1/2 mutations.

 

What causes Ovarian Cancer to develop, how can the risk be minimized and what treatment options are available?
