It’s Folly to Entrust Obama Holdovers with Executing Trump Policies

Yesterday, President Trump fired Sally Yates, an Obama holdover who should never have been permitted to run the Justice Department pending Senator Jeff Sessions confirmation as Attorney General.

Unfortunately, lots of Obama political and civil service appointees are still working in sensitive positions throughout the government, even though they are, to put it mildly, not aligned with President Trump and his agenda. Both are at risk of being undermined or sabotaged by at least some of those who amount to a disloyal opposition inside the new administration.

Mr. Trump had no choice but to relieve an insubordinate Sally Yates who refused to carry out the President’s lawful order to restrict would-be refugees from seven Sharia-supremacist nations. While that may discourage insubordination by other Obama holdovers, a more prudent course is to avoid entrusting powerful positions to them in the first place.
