In Jeff's words: On 10/4/16, our oldest son, Seth died from a heroin overdose. Battling alcoholism, past gambling addictions, divorce and now losing a child seemed to push me to the brink. Today at 55 years old I stand a better man.
I will tell you how I did this and what I discovered along the way. All the while building and running a multi-million dollar business. Death can be a very efficient teacher and I am very grateful for what it has offered to me in the form of gratitude, compassion and love. I am no victim, just the contrary.
My name is Jeff Johnston. I am 55 years old and own a wealth management firm located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. After the death of our oldest son, Seth, at the age of 23 to a heroin overdose in 2016, I decided I would honor him in the only way I knew how.
I stopped drinking, wrote a book called, This One’s For You: An Inspirational Journey Through Addiction Death and Meaning, formed a non-profit, The Choices Network, Ltd. and founded The Living Undeterred Project. I am just getting started.
