The word Gnostic comes from ancient Greek; the idea of Gnosis or knowledge. Gnosticism presents a unified theory of mankind as a spiritual being. In this talk the speaker provides a definition of Gnosticism and presents a history of it from its roots and origins in the 2nd century, to the medieval and renaissance periods, William Blakes’ New Jerusalem and the unearthing of the gnostic gospels in the 1940’s.
