We hear a lot about the danger posed by Islamic supremacists overseas – like the Islamic State and al Qaeda – and their determination to use violence to impose their totalitarian shariah program worldwide. A new poll of American Muslims suggests that astonishing numbers of them here at home are problematic, too.

For example, nearly one in five of the 600 Muslims surveyed agreed that “the use of violence in the United States is justified in order to make shariah the law of the land in this country.” Far more disagreed, but many thousands may feel this way.

Americans – both Muslim and non-Muslims alike – who love this country and wish to protect it against toxic ideologies like shariah must recognize this reality, and join forces to defeat the threat thus posed.
