12. The Voice

We are BACK BABY! Did you miss us as much as we missed you? We are jumping into a more serious topic of discussion for our first fortnightly drop but don't worry, there's still some lol's in there to brighten your Monday.

We're "shallow" diving into The 2023 Australian Indigenous Voice referendum. It doesn't sound sexy but it's important because we all have to vote on it next month. So tell us, are you across it? Join us on our socials to continue the discussion, we'd love to get your point of view.

 

The Voice referendum

 

The exact proposal:

"In recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Peoples of Australia:

1.  there shall be a body, to be called the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice;
2. the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice may make representations to the Parliament and the Executive Government of the Commonwealth on matters relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples;
3. the Parliament shall, subject to this Constitution, have power to make laws with respect to matters relating to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice, including its composition, functions, powers and procedures."
