Popular health and beauty retailer Boots on Shop Street has partnered up with The Hygiene Bank charity organisation for an initiative to tackle hygiene poverty.
The pharmacy will provide a drop-off point for people to donate a range of essential hygiene products to those in need, such as deodorants, nappies, period products and shampoo.
The Hygiene Bank says 640,000 people are at risk of poverty in Ireland - and hygeine poverty is much closer to us than one might think.
Maeve McNamara, Corporate Social Responsibility Manager at Boots Ireland explains why a drop-off point was brought to Galway.
