* Don't skimp on them. Try to pick unused images for cover models and settings.

* Pick a professional cover designer based on the aesthetic for your book.

* Some cover designers are shysters. If it sounds too good to be true, avoid and research (or buy my swampland! You'll love the neighbors. {alligators!}).
